A case study on heavy cargo delivery with changes to the logistics scheme and optimized delivery times
We'll share how we managed the transportation of heavy cargo while optimizing the delivery schedule and delivery time.

The task
Organize the international delivery of heavy cargo weighing 8,150 kg along a multimodal route with special transportation controls.
Initially, a through service was planned – sea and rail transportation through a single contractor.
Serious complications arose during the transportation process:
- The vessel was sent to a terminal not prepared to handle NTUs (non-standard transport units);
- The necessary materials for securing the cargo were not available;
- The paperwork and approvals could take up to two months;
- There was a risk of delays, additional costs, and penalties.
Heavy Cargo Delivery Solution with Optimized Logistics Scheme
The Inter-Freight team quickly redesigned the logistics scheme and prevented potential cargo downtime.
The original end-to-end service was terminated without penalties, and the use of a container from another logistics contractor was agreed upon.
We also organized new transit clearance, developed an alternative delivery route, and ensured control of all stages of transportation and clearance.
Selected Route Delivery
01.
Cargo delivery by sea
with changes in the terms of subsequent logistics.
02.
Transhipment using an alternative container
and transit arrangements.
03.
Sending a container by rail
under the VTT procedure to the final destination.
Result of our work
As a result of our work, the cargo was successfully shipped without delays, avoiding additional securing and additional costs.
The delivery time was 25 days instead of the previously possible 60 or more. The client received fully controlled and transparent logistics.
